Abstract: Study on seedling management to prevent pest damage in organic rice seed production at Chiangrai Rice Research Center. Split plot design in RCB with 4 replication, 2 main plots (50 and 75 g/square m seed rates), 3 sub plots (30,45 and 60 d seedling ages), KDML105 fragrant rice variety was used with 25*25 cm transplant spacing. Result as no interaction between 2 factors. No significant difference between seed rates for seedling high, root length, uprooting tension and pest (crab and golden apple snail) damage. But there were differenced between seedling ages, 60 d seedling gave highest plant, longest root and highest uprooting tension while pest damage was less (26.6 percent). Otherwise, youngest seedling (30 d) showed shortest plant and root, lower uprooting tension with serious pest damage (83.1 percent). Rice crop growth after transplanting and yielding had no difference between rice crops from difference seed rates. But there were difference between seedling ages, the youngest seedling rice crop performed highest tillering ability and gave more panicle number with less in plant high. 60 d seedling crop gave highest rice yield (426 kg/rai), statically not differ from 30 d seedling crop (396 kg/rai), but significantly higher than 45 d seedling crop (375 kg/rai). It was noticed that, all over the experiment rice crop fields were re-transplanted after crop pest damages were assessed. Primary, it merely concluded that, with both 50 and 75 g/square m seed rates combined with 60 d seedling age are recommended for organic KDML105 rice seed production.
