การมีส่วนร่วมของเกษตรกรในการป้องกันกำจัดแมลงบั่ว: กรณีศึกษาที่จังหวัดน่าน

Abstract

Farmer adoption of technology has been widely discussed. It has been found that several technologies that have been developed and transferred to farmers are less accepted. This maybe due to many reasons such as lack of information to farmers or the technologies are impractical to farmer due to lack of knowledge how to use them or the technologies are not suitable for farmer conditions. Thus, understanding of farmer e.g. farm condition, farmer knowledge and understanding of problems and also farmer socio-economic is important. A participatory approach is recommended to solve this problem in which it allows researchers and farmers to learn each other and work together. Similar to gall midge control technology, this has been studied and recommended to farmer but farmers are not able to modify and use efficiently. The objective of this paper is to demonstrate the use of farmer participatory approach for gall midge control. A case study at Nan will be present and discus. The program initiated in 2004 at Meung district, Nan province, in collaboration by Rainfed lowland rice breeding program for upper north and northeast, extension officer and Huk Meung Nan Foundation. Evaluation was conducted in 2005 and found that the approach was adopted and extended to other districts where gall midge was a problem. The results from Nam Khan district, Nan province where there was a continuing work from 2004 to 2006, will be also presented and discussed.
