Abstract: Objective of rice breeding in upper northern area is to obtain new variety that can resist to rice gall midge, blast and bacterial leaf blight disease. PRE01014-20-1-2-1 glutinous rice line was crossed between Sanpatong 1 and SPT82022-PRE-26-3-2-GM-6 in 2001. The selection was done in 2003-2007. This line was in the observation nursery in 2007 (dry season), the Intra-station yield trial nursery in 2007 (wet season) and the Inter-station yield trial nursery in 2008 (wet season). The yielding of PRE01014-20-1-2-1 gave 663 kg/rai and not significant from Phrae1, Sanpatong1 and RD10 variety that gave 723, 642 and 730 kg/rai respectively. In the Intra-station yield trial nursery, It gave 682 kg/rai and not significant from Phrae1, Sapatong1 and RD10 variety that gave 826, 700 and 727 kg/rai respectively. The grain quality evaluation found that seed length was 7.15 mm. seed shape was slender and alkaline test was 7. This line tend to be a good cooking quality line. The PRE01014-20-1-2-1 was showed resistant reaction to Blast and Bacterial leaf blight disease both 2007 and 2008. For Rice gall midge testing under green house condition was moderate susceptible (MS) reaction in 2007. However it was highly resistance reaction (HR) in 2008. Some agronomic characteristics were 100 days of flowering, with 117 cm. high and 8 panicle/hill.
