| Abstract: | Straw incorporation is an alternative management in regardless of burning before land preparation. Experiments were conducted at Pathum Thani Rice Research Center and Suphan Buri Rice Research Center in 2006-2007. 1. Effect of amount of straw incorporated into soils to early rice growth stage and yield 2. Effect of straw management to early rice growth stage and yield and 3. Effect of straw incorporation period to early rice growth stage and yield. Results showed that straw incorporation rate of 0-800 kg/rai did not effect numbers of plant/square m at 15 days after planting and yield. However, only number of plant/square m at 15 days after planting was decreased when straw was incorporated at the rate of 1,200-1,600 kg/rai whereas both the number of plant/square m at 15 days after planting and yield were decreased at the rate of 2,000-2,400 kg/rai of straw incorporation. Four methods of straw management as straw burning before land preparation, straw removing before land preparation, straw incorporation before land preparation and minimum tillage did not effect rice growth and yield. Straw incorporation period of 0, 7, 14 and 21 days before planting at the rate of 800 kg/rai of straw did not effect to yield of Supanburi 1 but had effected on rice root growth as brownish black color roots with less young root was noticed at the period of 0 and 7 days. However, at the period of 14 and 21 days, the rice roots were white, longer, bigger than those two periods. In the case of 1,200-1,800 kg/rai of straw incorporation, rice yield at the straw incorporation period of 0-14 days was lower than those of at the straw incorporation period of 21-28 days. |
