Abstract

Daily killings and Rice Development in special activity zone of Southern Border Provinces. The violence situation in 3 southern border provinces is a major cause of insecurity living of people in this area. Therefore, more than 100,000 rai of rice fields has been unplanted for a long time. Thus in 2007, Pattani Rice Research Center and Internal Security Operation Command launched collaborative project in rice development and rice production network accordant to Economic Self Sufficiency's concept with budget of 6.7 million Baht. This project aimed at recultivating 1,445 rai of rice fields in Saiburi district, Pattany province and also set up rice production network in Maelan and Khok Po districts, Pattani province in the area of 800 rai by aiming at raising better living of 675 farmers' families. Since the project's outcome was as good as the expected plan. Consequently, Pattani Rice Research Center has officially continue to carry out, implements and extend the project's result to nearby areas in accordance with Pattani province's policy. In 2008, Pattani Rice Research Center received a budget of about 8 million Baht as financial support from Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives for running another two projects. In order to continuing, supporting, and cooperating on this policy, Pattani Rice Research Center has set up working plan under rice research and development strategy for special activity zone in southern border provinces to received financial support from ministry of agriculture and cooperative during 2008-2011.
