สถานการณ์โรคแมลงศัตรูข้าวตามภารกิจของสำนักวิจัยและพัฒนาข้าวในปี 2551/2552

Abstract

Bureau of Rice Research and Development (BRRD) started a mission on rice pests monitoring in May 2008. The mission is one of the activities of Rice Department Operation Center by Rice Department. Brown planthopper (BPH) was a major rice pest during second half of the year 2008. In May 2008, hopper burn occurred in some area of central plain such as Phra Nakhon Sri Ayuttaya and Lopburi and a few areas of irrigated paddy fields in northeastern region. BPH caused problem again in March 2009. Very high BPH population was detected by light trap counting and also appeared in critical level in fields. Present situation is under monitoring, meanwhile BRRD continuously recommend field surveillance and properly chemical control to farmers. According to climate in the end of December 2008 to January 2009, occurring of cold condition following with high moisture by fog in February 2009 caused empty grain by abnormal fertilization and fungus diseases i.e. neck blast and dirty panicle. Most of affected area located in irrigated area of central plain.
