Abstract

In 2010, Mae Hong Son Rice Research Center was done the activities at two extension areas site of the Royal Project. The knowledge transfer and community potential development project at Ban Huay Sai, Huay Poo Ling, Muang, Mae Hong Son province and the project to solve opium growing area at Ban Huay Ha, Muang Paeng, Pai, Mae Hong Son province. At Ban Huay Sai upland rice is staple food crops but 8 households or 30 percent are insufficient for consumption about 2-3 months during the year. Community forum and terrace paddy technology transfer were done. The terrace paddy demonstration field was established with 4 farmers work together. Highland paddy rice Bue Po Lo Chi Nam Som variety and upland rice Bue Su Kee variety were grown. The result showed that Bue Po Lo Chi Nam Som average yield of 287 kg./rai and Bue Su Kee yielded 553 kg./rai. Therefore, upland rice yield in terrace paddy condition give higher than in farmer field about 95 percent. The influence of terrace paddy demonstration field in 2010 there are three farmers interested to prepare the land for terrace paddy in 2011. At Ban Huay Ha upland rice yield has adequate for consumption during the year. But the problems are shifting cultivation and forest destruction. Community forum and terrace paddy technology transfer were done in this village. There is one farmer work together with the area of 4 rai, highland paddy rice Bue Po Lo Chi Nam Som variety was cultivated. The result indicated that Bue Po Lo Chi Nam Som gave the yield of 476 kg./rai. In 2011, there are 4 farmers acceptable terrace paddy technique.
